Regina Pats center Steel drafted 30th overall June 30, 2016
Sam Steel was drafted 30th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft last Friday, in what was a whirlwind experience for the 18-year-old center. The product of Sherwood Park, Alberta saw his draft stock rise at the tail end of the season, thanks in due part to an excellent showing in the WHL Playoffs. In 12 games, Steel tallied 6 goals, 10 assists, and a plus/minus rating of +5. During the regular season, the two-way centerman tallied 70 points in 72 contests.
