Calgary takes Tkachuk with 6th overall pick June 30, 2016

Matthew Tkachuk was selected 6^th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames on Friday. The American-born winger brings a lot of qualities to the table, including top-end skill, speed, grit and character.  The 18-year-old was one of the best players in all of junior hockey this past season, leading the London Knights to championships in both the OHL and Memorial Cup. After finishing 5^th overall in the OHL regular season scoring race with 107 points, the St. Louis-product went on a tear in the playoffs, tallying 40 points (20 goals, 20 assists) in just 18 games.  He finished the season in style, claiming 1^st star honours in the Memorial Cup Final where he tallied two goals, including the overtime winner.
