Kessel narrowly edged in Conn Smythe vote June 17, 2016
Phil Kessel’s fantastic 2016 playoffs performance almost ended with a cherry on the top, as the superstar winger came within a whisker of claiming the Conn Smythe trophy. The Wisconsin-product was narrowly edged by his teammate Sidney Crosby in the Conn Smythe voting process, 63-60, in what was one of the closest votes in NHL history. Kessel was full value for his 2nd place finish, leading his team in goals (10), points (22) and shots on net (98).
