Player Trade

Phaneuf finds new home in Ottawa February 09, 2016

Dion Phaneuf was traded to the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday, as part of a nine-player, blockbuster deal. The 30-year-old stalwart defenseman will provide his new team with a wealth of experience on the blue line, and an ability to log big minutes. Over his 11-year career, the Edmonton-native has regularly averaged well over 20 minutes of ice time per game. With the Senators relying heavily on star D-man Erik Karlsson, the addition of Phaneuf will take some pressure off of their captain.  In 50 games this year, the 3-time All-Star defenseman has 24 points, including 21 assists.
