Brad Marchand leads charge as Bruins trounce Pens June 04, 2013
Two years removed from his Stanley Cup run in 2011 with the Boston Bruins, Brad Marchand is at again this year. The young gun is on top of his game, scoring big goals while excelling in his role as the team’s pest. Last night he perfected his craft to the fullest, putting the puck in the net twice while getting under the skin of his opponents throughout the game. The end result was a 6-1 drubbing of the top-seeded Penguins, and a 2-0 lead in the series.
Marchand was a force to be reckoned with all night long. Besides the 2 goals, he took 4 shots and was on the ice for 4 of the Bruins 6 goals. He was a unanimous choice for first star of the contest.
The feisty forward now has 11 points in 14 games this playoffs, putting him on a similar pace to his 19 points in 25 games during the 2010-11’ postseason. Despite the success he and his teammates have enjoyed thus far, he is not getting ahead of himself.
"It doesn't matter what the series is at right now," Marchand said. "If they get the next one, they're right back in it. The next one is the one that's most important."
Win or lose, few can argue that Brad Marchand has been one of the brightest stars in the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs thus far. He and the Bruins will look to put Pittsburgh into a 3-0 hole this Wednesday in Boston.
