Brad Marchand nets winner for Bruins in overtime May 17, 2013
The Boston Bruins kept their overtime magic alive last night, winning in extra time over the New York Rangers, 3-2. The hero this time around was Brad Marchand, sneaking a shot through the legs of Henrik Lundqvist for the winning goal.
It was a standout performance for the Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia native, who was named the first star of the contest. Besides scoring in overtime, he helped set up the tying goal in the third period.
It had been a bit of a struggle for Marchand thus far in the playoffs, after leading his team in scoring in the regular season with 36 points. Here’s what the sniper had to say after scoring the winner:
"It's always frustrating not to score", Marchand said, "but there's so many other areas of the game. It's always nice to get the first one and you hope you just keep going."
