Girardi and Richards score in Rangers win; Lundqvist nominated for Vezina May 09, 2013

It was an all around, feel good day for the New York Rangers. Just hours after their star goaltender got the nod for his 5th Vezina trophy nomination, they skated off the ice with a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals, tying up the series in the process.

Brad Richards opened the scoring with his first goal of the playoffs. It was an effective night for the Murray Harbour native, who also registered 4 shots on net.

On defense, Dan Girardi earned the 3rd star after turning in a tour de force performance.  The blue-liner did it all on the night, blocking shots, making hits, and even chipping in with a goal that gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead in the third period. His 29:35 of ice-time was second only to teammate Ryan McDonagh.

On his end, Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27 of 30 shots, making a big save on Joel Ward late in the game to consolidate the victory.
