PK Subban one of three finalists for Norris Trophy May 07, 2013
After a stellar season saw him net 11 goals and 27 assists in 42 games, the 23-year-old D-man earned his first ever James Norris Memorial Trophy nomination. Subban, along with Kris Letang and Ryan Suter, were the three nominees for the award to be handed out by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association to the defenseman who showed the “greatest all-round ability.”
The Toronto, Ontario native improved in practically every category this year. After scoring 36 points in 81 games in 2011-12, the offensive defenseman managed 38 this season in just 42 games. From a defensive standpoint, it was also his best year in terms of +/-, finishing with a mark of +12. His standout play was one of the main reasons why the Canadiens made a complete 360º this year, going from dead last to 2nd best in the Eastern conference.
