O’Reilly garners Lady Byng nomination April 23, 2014
Colorado Avalanche forward Ryan O’Reilly was named a finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy, Wednesday, the award given to the player “adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.” The two-way centerman took just one minor penalty all season, becoming just the second player in NHL history to accomplish the feat in at least 80 games played. O’Reilly, who registered a career high in points (64), also led his team in goals (28) and the entire league in takeaways (83).
