Palat receives Calder Trophy consideration March 20, 2014

After being drafted 208th overall in the 2011 Entry Draft, Ondrej Palat has been one of the NHL’s most pleasant surprises this season. The 22-year-old winger has been a clutch performer all year long for the Tampa Bay Lightning, scoring 18 goals and adding 28 assists in 68 games played. He also owns one of the best plus/minus ratings among forwards in the NHL, sitting 5th with an impressive mark of +28. It is of no surprise, then, that Palat has begun to garner strong consideration for rookie of the year honours.
