Backes and Schwartz star in Blues victory November 28, 2013
After a dominating 1st period saw them take a 3-1 lead, the St. Louis Blues coasted to an easy 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. David Backes took charge of the game early on, scoring the first goal on a well-timed tip. The American-born centerman then set up the eventual winner, feeding Alexander Steen in the slot to make it 2-0. Colorado would cut the lead to one shortly after, but Jaden Schwartz’s shorthanded marker near the end of the period put the Blues back up by 2.
