HENRIK LUNDQVIST INDUCTED INTO THE HOCKEY HALL OF FAME November 14, 2023 - CBC
The New York Rangers drafted Henrik Lundqvist in the seventh round of the 2000 draft, Lundqvist went on to play for 15 seasons with the Rangers. He is a 5-time NHL all-star, a Vezina Trophy winner and 5-time nominee, and a gold medal Olympian. Lundqvist is ranked sixth all time in wins with 459, ninth in games played with 887, and 17th in shutouts with 64. He is the first Swedish born goalie to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. At the induction ceremony Lundqvist thanked his family and friends, while also reminiscing about how he got here, “Seven-by-three metre sandpit at a kindergarten up in Are, Sweden, to Madison Square Garden and now Hockey Hall of Fame — it's just an incredible feeling," Lundqvist said in his speech Monday. "And I try to remember what I was thinking back then as an eight-year-old skating around, so much love for the game of hockey."
