Nearly 15 years ago, Steven Stamkos’ name was called as the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 1^st Overall Pick in the 2008 NHL Draft. Yesterday, Stamkos became the franchises second player to reach the 1,000 game mark - all with the same team. Stamkos through perseverance, resilience, and durability has been the Lightning captain for nine years, is the franchise leader in goals scored and total points. He will go down in Tampa Bay sports history as one of the most talented athletes to ever grace the city, Stamkos has already had an incredibly successful career. Luckily for Lightning fans, he's still got plenty of games ahead of him.
