Blockbuster Trade Sends M. Tkachuk to Panthers – Signs 8-Year Extension July 22, 2022 - NHL

After being traded to the Florida Panthers on Friday in a multi-player deal, Matthew Tkachuk signed an 8-year, $76 million extension to stay in South Florida long-term.

Selected by the Flames 6th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Tkachuk played 431 regular season games in Calgary to begin his career, recording 382 points (152 goals, 230 assists).

Tkachuk will look to bring his unique mix of abilities to the President Trophy Winning Panthers. He is coming off a career year with the Flames where he broke the 100-point mark (104), reaching career highs in goals (42) and assists (62). Following the conclusion of the NHL regular season, Tkachuk was named to the NHL Second All-Star Team.
