Rangers’ great Henrik Lundqvist announces retirement August 20, 2021
Henrik Lundqvist announced his retirement on Friday, after 15 brilliant seasons between the pipes for the New York Rangers. The Swedish netminder was a model of consistency in his long and illustrious career, winning 30 games or more on 11 occasions. He won the Vezina Trophy as the sports’ best goalie in 2011-12, and backstopped the New York Rangers to a birth in the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. He ends his NHL career in the top-10 in a plethora of categories, including 6th in wins (459), 7th in saves (23,509), and 8th in games played (887).
