Samsonov shines in Capitals’ shootout triumph April 23, 2021

Ilya Samsonov recorded his third career shutout last night, guiding the Washington Capitals to a 1-0, shootout defeat of the New York Islanders. The 24-year-old netminder turned aside all 26 shots he faced in the win, and would eventually go on to be named the 1st star of the contest. It was the 3rd successive victory for the Magnitogorsk, Russia-native, and his second shutout of the season. Overall in 2020-21, Samsonov has posted an impressive record of 12-3, with a GAA of 2.65 and save percentage of .904.
