O’Reilly in the running for Lady Byng Trophy June 08, 2018
Nominated back in mid-April, Ryan O’Reilly will be looking to claim his second career Lady Byng Trophy at the upcoming NHL Awards this June. The 27-year-old center was an all-round performer for the Buffalo Sabres in 2017-18, finishing 2nd on the team in points with 61 (24 goals, 37 assists), while leading the entire NHL in face-offs won with 1,274, the most by any player since the league began tracking the statistic back in 1997. O’Reilly also displayed a high level of sportsmanship associated with all Lady Byng nominees. In 81 games played, the Clinton, Ontario-native was assessed just 1 minor penalty (2 minutes), the lowest amount in the league among players with at least 41 games played.
