Kessel’s big night leads Penguins to win April 06, 2018

With 2nd place in the Metropolitan Division at stake, Phil Kessel came up big last night, leading the Penguins past the hard-charging Blue Jackets by a score of 5-4. After Columbus took the lead 4-3 with under 12 minutes to play in the 3rd period, Kessel took over the contest, assisting on the game-tying goal 4 minutes later before potting the game-winner 1:06 into overtime. He would go on to finish the game with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and 4 shots on net. The sharpshooting Wisconsin-native has put together his finest season to date in 2017-18, with new career-highs in points (90) and assists (57), as well as an NHL-leading 41 power play points.
