Nicklas Lidstrom’s No.5 jersey to be retired by Red Wings August 02, 2013

It has only been a year since his retirement, but the Detroit Red Wings are wasting no time in honouring the superstar defenseman, who won seven Norris Trophies during his stellar career. His famous No.5 jersey will be lifted to the rafters on March 6, 2014.   The ceremony will take place before a game against the Colorado Avalanche, Detroit’s most storied rival during Lidstrom tenure as captain with the club.
