Player Trade

Stone traded to playoff contender Flames February 21, 2017

Michael Stone was traded by the Arizona Coyotes to the Calgary Flames on Monday, and though it is always shocking to be traded, Stone will have a good deal of familiarity with his new home.  The Winnipeg, Manitoba-native was a standout defenseman for the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL, where he played for four years (2006 to 2010).  Since the Hitmen and Flames share playing time at Calgary’s main arena the Scotiabank Saddledome, Stone has a unique connection with his new home arena, a place where he produced some of his finest hockey moments as a teenager. The smooth skating defenseman is coming off his best season in 2015-16 where he racked up 36 points (6 goals, 30 assists) in 75 games.
