Islanders re-sign Nabakov, add Regin July 08, 2013
After helping the New York Islanders reach the playoffs for the first time in 6 years, Evgeni Nabakov was rewarded with a one-year, $3.25 million contract. The Russian-born netminder put up solid numbers last year, posting a record of 23-11-7 with a GAA of 2.50. Turning 38 later this month, Nabakov will be entering his 12th full season in the NHL.
Peter Regin joins the club after spending the last nine years in the Ottawa Senators organization. Drafted 87th overall in 2004, the product of Herning, Denmark broke on to the scene in 2009, where he scored 13 goals and added 16 assists for the Senators. After garnering limited playing time the last few seasons, Regin will hope to regain his scoring touch in Long Island.
